Jocelyn P ThompsonJocelyn P. Thompson, Minister of Music, is the Chorus Teacher at South Charlotte Middle School in Charlotte. Previously, she was Performing Arts Chairperson at Mallard Creek High School, Music Teacher at Garinger High School, and Fine Arts Chairperson at West Charlotte High School, where her choirs have performed extensively up and down the east coast, including two appearances at Carnegie Hall, one at Riverside Church in New York City, and at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Jocelyn received the Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, and Master of Education, all from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, specializing in piano, accompanying, and a secondary emphasis upon mallet percussion instruments.  She came to Memorial Presbyterian Church in April of 1990 as Assistant Director of Music.  In 1996 she became the Director of Music/Organist at Memorial.

In addition to her duties at Memorial, she has served as music leader for both the Men's and Women's Mid-Atlantic Conferences in Massanetta Springs, Virginia, hymn leader for the General Conference held in Charlotte in (fill in the year, Rev.), and she and her sister were music leaders for the 2003 Church wide Gathering of Presbyterian Women held in Louisville, Kentucky in July of 2003.

An active clinician in the region and state, Jocelyn conducts and accompanies All-County Choruses and directs mass church choirs each year. She is an active member of NCMEA, MENC, NCACDA, ACDA Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and the Links, Incorporated. She is married to Minister Sherman B. Thompson and resides in Gastonia, North Carolina.
